Long Lake Dam and Overlook
This Avista
Corp. facility was recorded as the tallest dam in the world when it was built in 1915, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The nearby overlook offers a scenic view of the dam's spillway, with the Little Falls Reservoir in the foreground Long Lake and Devil's Gap in the background. The Spokane River flows from Lake Coeur d'Alene
in northern Idaho 90 miles northwest through the city of Spokane, Washington, before emptying into the Colombia river at the site of fort Spokane. Long Lake is a 25 mile long reservoir, running between Nine Mile Falls Dam ( which you can see in my earlier blog posts) and Long Lake Dam to the west.
